Submitted to JQSRT. ________________________________________________________________________________________ ALLOWED BANDS In the table below, the quoted line position is the one measured in this work, in cm-1. S obs and S calc are measured and calculated intensities, respectively, for pure 12C2H2 (i.e., for a sample containing 100% of 12C2H2) in cm molecule-1 at 296 K. % is the ratio 100 x (S obs - S calc) / S obs. |R|^2 obs is the experimental transition dipole moment squared value, in D^2 (1 D = 3.33546 x 10-30 C m), deduced from S obs using Eqs. (1-3) of the paper. S calc is calculated using Eqs. (1-3,5) and the constants of Table 5 of the paper. Except when data of high accuracy have been taken in the current HITRAN file, the fourth digit in S calc is not significant. Small differences of at most a few 0.1% can occur for this digit when comparing with published values, because of roundings and differences in the used computer codes. In the (2nu4 + nu5)1 I - (nu4)1 band, there exists a strong rotational dependence that leads to very small values of |R|^2 for high J lines, compared with the |R|^2 values occuring at low J. Thus, realistic |obs - calc| residuals on |R|^2 can lead to large % ratios for a few high J lines, even when the rotational dependence is well reproduced by an Herman-Wallis factor.
