, Ce matériau liant présente un réseau de macropores dont les diamètres sont compris entre 0,5 et 5 ?m. Les cristaux de zéolite comportent, eux, des micropores ayant des diamètres de l'ordre du nanomètre. En outre, la structure des zéolites présente des défauts tels que des sites aluminium extra-réseau. Différentes méthodes de caractérisation sont donc nécessaires pour décrire la structure de ces catalyseurs hétérogènes aux différentes échelles spatiales. En particulier, la spectroscopie RMN des solides permet d'obtenir des informations spécifiques sur la structure à l'échelle atomique, en observant les moments magnétiques des noyaux atomiques. (b) Sites de surface d'un catalyseur hétérogène. Il s'agit d'un agrandissement de la structure à l'échelle atomique présentée en (a). L'intérêt des principales méthodes de RMN des solides pouvant être employées pour l'étude des catalyseurs hétérogènes est illustré pour une surface de zéolite HY comportant une espèce aluminium extra-réseau, Al(OH) 2+ -H 2 O. Des expériences RMN bidimensionnelles homo-et hétéronucléaires ont permis de mieux comprendre la structure de ce catalyseur et de préciser en particulier la structure des sites Al extra-réseau, qui influent sur l'activité catalytique des zéolites, Organisation des catalyseurs hétérogènes à base de zéolites aux différentes échelles spatiales : depuis l'échelle macroscopique jusqu'à l'échelle subatomique. Dans les réacteurs catalytiques, les cristaux de zéolite de 1 à 5 ?m sont dispersés au sein d'un matériau liant (argile, alumine, polymère?)
, et qui ont pu être comparés aux valeurs expérimentales, extraites d'expériences RMN multidimensionnelles
