Régis Boyer has played a key role in the development of research and teaching of Scandinavian studies in France. Through a reflection on the medieval genre of the saga, a presentation of its different categories and an opening on the notion of saga through the history of literature, this article pays tribute to the immense work carried out by Régis Boyer to make French readers discover and love Nordic literature, and to initiate students in the richness of a field of study comprising Danish, Finnish, Icelandic, Norwegian and Swedish literatures as well as medieval, modern and contemporary cultural history of the Nordic countries.

Régis Boyer a joué un rôle primordial dans le développement de la recherche et de l’enseignement des études scandinaves en France. Par une réflexion sur le genre médiéval de la saga, une présentation de ses différentes catégories et une ouverture sur la notion de saga à travers l’histoire de la littérature, cet article rend hommage à l’immense travail réalisé par Régis Boyer pour faire découvrir et aimer les lettres du Nord aux lecteurs français et pour former les étudiants à la richesse d’un champ d’étude touchant aux littératures danoise, finlandaise, islandaise, norvégienne et suédoise ainsi qu’à la civilisation scandinave médiévale, moderne et contemporaine.
