A model for zinc deposition in alkaline electrolytes: inhibition layer and activation mechanism
Résumé
A model of metal—electrolyte interphase is developed so as to account for the polarization curves and impedance plots obtained for zinc deposition in alkaline electrolytes. The reaction pattern involves the fast multi-step discharge of zincate ions through an inhibiting layer whose ionic and electronic conductivities are potential activated. The slow and sharp electrode activation with increasing cathodic potential is shown to be related to the removal of this layer.
