Surface density profile of the one-component plasma
Résumé
Monte Carlo computations of the surface density profile and the surface energy of the classical one-component plasma have been made for different values of the plasma parameter Gamma . Two different situations are considered: when the ions are in contact with an impenetrable wall and when they are confined by the background itself. In the former case, comparison is made with the predictions of the integral equations based on the hypernetted chain and mean spherical approximations. The influence of the width of the background profile is also examined.
