Une approche socio-esthétique de l'illustration de l'entre-deux-guerres : la forme des illustrations

Abstract : This document presents a quantitative study on the form of the illustrations observed on the production between 1925 and 1935 of the illustrated literary edition in France. This document consists in a complementary file to a doctorate thesis (avalaible on line on these.fr) dealing with the illustration between the world wars, analyzed with a socio-aesthetic approach. Two characteristics of form are considered in the study: the graphic structure of the images and the use of black and white or color. Maps of these two characteristics over the structure of the field of illustration are presented. The homogeneity of these distributions is commented. The works of a number of artists-illustrators are quoted as examples.
