Haine du théâtre, haine des femmes : fascination et censure dans la réflexion théorique et dans la pratique théâtrale italiennes au XVIIIe siècle

Abstract : Hatred of the theatre and hatred of women: fascination and censorship in Italian theoretical thought and theatre praxis in the 18th century The paper explores the relationship between the exhibition of the female body on the stage in the 18th century and antitheatricality. By analyzing various pronouncements of Riccoboni, Concina, Maffei and Goldoni, it highlights a tension between a reforming and moralizing theoretical line, which accepts with difficulty the presence and eroticizing effects of women on the stage, and a theatrical practice which makes deliberate use of the female body and its power of fascination.
