Sor Juana Inés et le programme Phœbus : tester sur le gongorisme un logiciel d’exploration de l’intertextualité

Abstract : We are far from a complete exploration of Gongorism, a phenomenon which has always been recognized as important but whose concept remains vague. To establish something like a scientific basis, we would need a complete inventory, or at least a precise quantitative examination, of the hypertextual relations between Góngora’s writings and those texts clearly marked by his influence. To that end, it is natural to look to the digital humanities, and this study is a first step towards such a project. We show that even an imperfect tool, in this case the Phœbus software developed by Jean-Gabriel Ganascia, allows for the automated comparison between the poems of Don Luis de Góngora and a work situated within his sphere of influence, that of the famous Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, born in Mexico twenty years after the death of the Spanish poet. This comparison is mainly of heuristic value. It is less interested in finding hypertextual relations than evaluating the capabilities and limits of the tool, as well as determining what could make it more efficient through consideration of its potential application to a larger, and less studied, set of texts. The conditions for the feasibility of this project include, in addition to the development of the software and its interface, a good number of seventeenth-century works (in verse and prose) in a reliable version and in a convenient format.
