Nancy Fraser’s recent work takes into account the transnational process of a post-westphalian frame. In this frame, misrepresentation occurs when political boundaries and/or decision rules fonction to deny some people, wrongly, the possibility of participating on a par with others in social interaction and in political arenas. One of the level of misrepresentation concerns the boundary-setting aspect of the political. Here the injustice arises when the community’s boundaries are drawn in such a way as to wrongly exclude some people from the chance to participate at all in its authorized contests over justice. In such cases, misrepresentation takes a deeper form, which N. Fraser calls « misframing ». In this talk, I will assess Fraser’s theory of « parity of participation » as an answer to the problem of political voicelessness.
