Large-scale educational laboratories: a bi-disciplinary approach
Un laboratoire pédagogique à grande échelle : les ateliers bidisciplinaires
Abstract
Compulsory bi-disciplinary teaching was introduced in the first year of the “license” degree, based on the
implementation of partially autonomous projects. These “workshops” aim at initiating students to research in
order to develop transversal skills such as self-learning, scientific investigation, results analysis and defending
conclusions. The bi-disciplinary approach encourages the student to take ownership of the issues and vocabulary
specific to both disciplines, and to establish links between the different concepts covered. Teaching is taking place
in small groups, each of them associated to a different theme chosen by the teachers. It allows the development
