Spatial Correlations in Deeply Supercooled Water

Résumé

The diffraction pattern I(Q) of supercooled D2O at -29 °C has been obtained by neutron scattering. The sample consisted of an emulsion containing water droplets in deuteroheptane with sorbitan surfactant. The determined I(Q) appears to be intermediate between those of water at room temperature and amorphous ice.
